Authorities of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Command of the Nigeria Customs Service have said that they intercepted combat Unmanned Area Vehicles (UAVs), also known as drones, and other military hardware allegedly being smuggled into the country.

It said three suspects were taken into custody for their alleged involvement in the illegal import.

Speaking to newsmen in his office against the backdrop of the command’s activities in 2023, the Area Controller, Charles Orbih, also disclosed that the command generated N30.5bn from January to December, 2023.

According to him, all the drones lacked End User Certificate from the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) and that they were above the specification allowed by law in the country.
