Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to mobilise eligible voters to participate in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Oborevwori made the call at Government House, Asaba, during an enlarged meeting of the partyโs leaders at ward, local government, and state levels.
He stressed that obtaining Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) was crucial for securing victory for APC candidates in future elections, adding that it was important to reach out to citizens who had just attained voting age.
โAll citizens who turned 18 since the last registration in 2022 should be encouraged to register in order to exercise their franchise in the 2027 general elections and beyond,โ he said.
The governor explained that the meeting was convened to strengthen unity among party stakeholders, noting that with a united front, the APC was well-positioned for victory at all levels. He also pledged to continue working in synergy with President Bola Tinubu for the collective good of Delta State and Nigeria.
Oborevwori commended the dedication of APC leaders across the state, saying: โWith unity in our party, no other political party can defeat the APC. We are performing well at the federal level and we are equally doing well here in the state.โ
In his remarks, Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Mr. Emomotimi Guwor, urged elected and appointed party members to return to their constituencies and mobilise voters for the exercise, stressing that teamwork remained vital to advancing the โRenewed Hope for More Agenda.โ
The APC State Chairman, Chief Omeni Sobotie, also emphasised the importance of unity, while a party stakeholder, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, appealed to aggrieved members to bury their differences and work together for the partyโs growth.
APC Publicity Secretary, Mr. Valentine Onojeghuo, told newsmen that the meeting was primarily convened to consolidate party unity and raise awareness for the CVR exercise.
โOur most important takeaway from the meeting is the need for unity and loyalty of members to our party because without that, we will achieve little. The second is ensuring that all eligible young people who turned 18 are captured in the ongoing registration. Once this is done, the 2027 general elections will be a walkover for our party,โ Onojeghuo said.
