Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals has begun nationwide sales of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at a new pump price of N739 per litre, available at all MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling stations. The initiative marks a major step in the refinery’s goal to deliver affordable fuel to Nigerians while stabilising the downstream petroleum sector.
With over 2,000 MRS stations across the country, the price reduction is expected to benefit consumers nationwide. The refinery commended marketers who have implemented the lower pricing and urged others to follow suit to support Nigeria’s economic recovery.
Historically, the festive season has been accompanied by fuel shortages and steep price increases. Dangote Refinery’s market intervention, backed by a guaranteed daily supply of 50 million litres, ensures steady availability and alters supply dynamics during the holiday period, providing relief to households, businesses, and transport operators.
By refining fuel locally at scale, the refinery is reducing Nigeria’s reliance on volatile global markets, conserving foreign exchange, stabilising the naira, and strengthening energy security. The sustained price cut demonstrates the refinery’s commitment to long-term national interests rather than short-term market gains.
The refinery warned against attempts by unscrupulous operators to create artificial scarcity or manipulate supply in response to the price reduction. Consumers were advised to report stations charging above N739 per litre and to prioritise locally refined fuel, ensuring the benefits of the price cut reach as many Nigerians as possible.
