The Consul General of the Royal Danish Embassy in Nigeria, Jette Bjerrum, along with a delegation of Danish government and business representatives, visited Government House, Enugu, to discuss investment opportunities in key sectors of the state’s economy.
Denmark has expressed strong interest in Enugu’s Smart Schools initiative, agricultural value chains, waste-to-energy projects, logistics, international airport expansion, and healthcare development. The visit aligns with Enugu’s broader vision of de-risking investments, fostering a business-friendly environment, and driving economic growth to $30 billion within the next six years.
A significant step in this collaboration has already been taken, as Enugu has partnered with Danish company ODK Group to procure tractors, with plans underway to establish a local assembly plant in the state. With over 300,000 hectares of secured land and the rollout of a Farm Estate initiative across all 260 electoral wards, agriculture remains a cornerstone of Enugu’s economy, contributing 40% to its GDP.
In addition to crop production, Enugu has secured $20 million for livestock investment and is developing a modern ranch with the capacity to house over 20,000 cows. The state’s Special Agro-Processing Zones aim to support manufacturers by providing critical infrastructure to ensure seamless operations.
Governor Peter Mbah expressed confidence in Denmark’s recognition of Enugu as an emerging economic hub and extended an open invitation
