Dele Farotimi: Tinubu Won’t Appoint Ministers That Will Change Nigeria by dre11(m): 1:38pm On Jul 26
Dele Farotimi, a political activist and commentator, says President Bola Tinubu does not possess the will to appoint ministers that can fix Nigeria.
In an interview with 90Minutes Africa on Sunday, Farotimi said members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) do not have the interest of the country at heart.
Over the past few days, there have been conversations on the delay in the submission of the ministerial list to the senate for screening.
The president has till Friday, July 28, to submit the list, in accordance with a 60-day constitutional timeframe.
Reacting to the development, the lawyer averred that the much-awaited list from Tinubu will not change the fortunes of the country.
“They (the ruling class) don’t have their houses in Nigeria, they hop on the plane and fly abroad to see their doctors when they have a common cold and their children don’t even go to school in Nigeria,” he said.
“What is it about the APC and the Nigerian political ‘ruiners’ as a collective that would inspire anybody into believing that the worst that could come from the Nigerian president is to appoint those who will lift the people he has helped to enslave out of their enslavement.
“Some of us knew from the beginning that Tinubu would be bad for the country. We warned everyone and people listened.
“They fought to make sure that he did not emerge but he proceeded to force himself into the office and is proceeding to corrupt every strata of the society.
“Peter Obi has awakened the people to understand the power that they possess. What we do with that power going forward is entirely on us.”
Micheal Bamidele, senate leader, disclosed on Tuesday that the president will dispatch his ministerial list to the upper legislative chamber within the next 48 hours.
