The Delta State Police Command has apprehended a three-man interstate kidnap syndicate, the command’s spokesman, SP Bright Edafe, announced on Tuesday in Warri.
Edafe stated that the suspects were arrested last Friday by operatives of the Command’s Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) following credible intelligence that led them to Port Harcourt.
“The operatives trailed the suspects to Port Harcourt, where they arrested a 21-year-old syndicate member in the Elelenwo area,” Edafe explained. “Upon interrogation, the suspect directed the police to the residence of the gang leader and coordinator, also in Port Harcourt.”
He further revealed that the gang leader coordinates several kidnap syndicates across the South South and South East regions.
“On May 16, 2025, the CP-SAT successfully dismantled this notorious interstate kidnap syndicate operating in Delta, Rivers, Imo, and Enugu States,” Edafe said.
Further investigations led to the arrest of a 38-year-old suspect residing in the Oil Mill area of Port Harcourt, who reportedly heads operations in the Enugu State axis.
The suspects also led police operatives to a bush along the Ughelli–Ozoro Road, where assorted weapons belonging to the syndicate were recovered. These included one AK-47 rifle loaded with 23 rounds of live ammunition and a pump-action gun with seven live cartridges.
The Delta Police Command continues to intensify efforts to dismantle criminal networks and ensure the safety of citizens across the region.
