Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju has cautioned former presidential candidates Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party against contesting the 2027 presidential election. Speaking on Wednesday, Adeyanju advised the trio to avoid wasting money on campaigns, claiming their efforts would be futile.
Adeyanju suggested that instead of spending on the upcoming election, the three aspirants would be better off placing bets, as they cannot defeat President Bola Tinubu, even if they unite. He expressed doubts about the fairness of the electoral process, referencing alleged irregularities in previous elections.
He further stated that the opposition’s best chance to defeat the ruling party was in the last election, and now, uniting would still not be enough to overcome Tinubu and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Adeyanju concluded that any attempt to contest would likely end in failure.
