Four policemen including a Divisional Police Officer, DPO have been shot during the communal clash between Ilobu, headquarters of Irepodun council and Ifon, headquarters of Orolu local government areas of Osun State.

The patrol van of the policemen including houses located in the warring communities were also razed down by arsonists.

The Osun state government had raised an alarm that a clash may occurre on Wednesday night after youths were sighted brandishing weapons.

Confirming the development, the Police Public Relation Officer, Osun State Command, Yemisi Opalola disclosed that four policemen were shot and patrol van was burnt.

Meanwhile, the Osun State Deputy Governor, Kola Adewusi led government delegate to the boundary of the warring communities.

The Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has warned that the parcel of land in contention between Orolu and Irepodun local government has been seized by the state government.

The governor also added that he has obtained the cooperation of the Chief Of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, to deploy military personnel to maintain law and order in both communities.

Governor Adeleke made this known at the first edition of the Ipade Imole, a public accountability platform held in Osogbo on Thursday.
