The Ondo State Police Command has assured residents of robust and watertight security measures to ensure a peaceful and safe Eid-el-Kabir celebration across the state.
This assurance was given by the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Wilfred Afolabi, in a statement released on Thursday in Akure by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Olushola Ayanlade.
Afolabi stated that strategic deployments of police personnel had been ordered to Eid prayer grounds, major public spaces, and other key locations in acknowledgment of the significance of the religious celebration.
“Tactical teams, detectives, and intelligence operatives have been mobilized across the state to prevent any breach of peace and respond swiftly to emerging threats,” he said.
The Commissioner also directed Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to intensify patrols, maintain high-visibility policing, and ensure tight security at prayer grounds, recreation centers, and other gathering points.
“This coordinated effort reflects the command’s dedication to protecting lives and property throughout the festive period,” Afolabi added.
He extended warm Eid-el-Kabir greetings to Muslim faithful across the state, urging them to reflect on the values of obedience, selflessness, and compassion that define the festival.
“Citizens are encouraged to engage in charitable acts, pray for the continued peace and development of Ondo State and Nigeria, and celebrate within the limits of the law,” the statement read.
Reiterating the command’s unwavering commitment to public safety, Afolabi issued a firm warning that any attempt to disrupt public order would be met with the full force of the law.
