Ekiti, Nigeria — The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ekiti State has reported that its party secretariat was set on fire overnight by suspected hoodlums in what the party described as a politically motivated attack.
In a video posted on the ADC’s official Facebook page on Tuesday, the party confirmed that the incident destroyed the building along with thousands of plastic chairs.
“Our Party Secretariat was set ablaze this morning by those threatened by the rising momentum and formidable organisational structure that the Ekiti ADC is building,” the statement read.
“This cowardly act is most unfortunate, yet it will only fortify our determination and unity. The formidable Ekiti State ADC has come to stay.”

According to the party, the attack was allegedly carried out by individuals intimidated by the ADC’s growing popularity and organisational strength in the state.
The fire coincided with the party’s Reconfiguration and Affirmation Ceremony for its executives at the ward, local government, senatorial, and state levels.
Despite the destruction, ADC leaders vowed to continue their political activities undeterred.
“Our spirit remains unbroken; our vision, unstoppable,” the statement added.
As of the time of reporting, the Ekiti State Police Command has not issued an official statement regarding the incident.
