The Emir of Gusau, Dr. Ibrahim Bello, has passed away at the age of 71. He died in a hospital in Abuja on Friday, July 25, 2025, following a prolonged illness.
Dr. Bello ascended the throne as the 15th Emir of Gusau in March 2015, succeeding his late brother Alhaji Muhammad Kabiru Danbaba. Prior to becoming Emir, he had a distinguished career in public service, rising to the position of Permanent Secretary in the civil service of old Sokoto and later Zamfara State.
His reign, which spanned nearly a decade, was marked by dedication to peace, unity, and development within the emirate and across Zamfara State.
Governor Dauda Lawal expressed deep sorrow, describing the late Emir as a father figure and a pillar of support.
He praised the Emir’s wisdom, leadership, and lifelong commitment to the progress of the state.
Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the Gusau Emirate Council in due course, in accordance with Islamic traditions. May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannah Firdaus.
