Enugu Government Issues Final Notice for Demolitions on Road Dualization Projects
Enugu, Nigeria – The Enugu State Government has issued a final notice for the demolition of marked structures along major road expansion projects, with demolitions set to commence within 24 hours.
In a public announcement released by the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, property owners, residents, and business operators along the affected routes have been urged to vacate immediately to prevent damage or loss of life. The affected areas include the 44.1km Nike Lake Road dualization project, covering Peenox, Nowas, Ugwogo, and Opi Nsukka Junction, as well as the 21.5km Enugu Airport Road Flyover Bridge through Eke Obinagu, Owo Junction, Amechi Idodo, and up to the Ebonyi State border.
The government stated that this action follows previous notifications issued on October 30, 2024. Additionally, a field inspection and evaluation of structures for compensation purposes were conducted from November 4 to November 11, 2024.
Residents with concerns regarding compensation have been directed to the Land/Property Reconciliation and Compensation Committee at the Abuja Building, Government House, Enugu.
The state government reiterated that compliance is mandatory, emphasizing that this notice serves as the final warning before demolition begins.
