The Enugu State Government has entered a landmark Public-Private Partnership (PPP) with the renowned Landmark Africa Group to revamp and reposition the iconic Nike Lake Resort. This ambitious move is part of the state’s broader vision to grow its economy to $30 billion within the next six years.
Under the agreement, the state government will provide the Nike Lake Resort as an asset, while Landmark Africa Group will invest N10 billion in the project’s first phase to restore the resort to its former glory. This investment is expected to attract up to two million visitors annually, generate significant employment opportunities, and boost the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
Nike Lake Resort, a symbol of Enugu’s rich history and potential, is set to become a premier global destination for tourism, business, and leisure. Landmark Africa Group, a leader in the hospitality industry, will spearhead the redevelopment, marking a major step in Enugu’s transformation into an economic hub.
This partnership complements the state’s ongoing infrastructure development initiatives, which include an N800 billion investment this year alone. Notable projects include the dualisation of the Enugu-Opi-Nsukka Road, aimed at improving connectivity to the resort and spurring further investments in the region.
Governor Peter Mbah extended an open invitation to investors, emphasizing that Enugu is creating a business-friendly environment through improved infrastructure, enhanced security, and progressive governance.
Commending Landmark Africa Group’s Founder and CEO, Mr. Paul Onwuanibe, Governor Mbah praised his commitment to the state’s vision and collaboration in restoring the Nike Lake Resort’s iconic status.
With this strategic partnership, Enugu takes a bold step toward a brighter economic future.
