Enyimba’s Struggles Exposed: Are the Aba Giants Truly Back or Just Papering Over the Cracks?

Despite a recent resurgence that has seen Enyimba climb to eighth place in the NPFL table with 41 points, questions remain over whether the *People’s Elephant* are truly back or simply benefitting from a brief spell of good fortune.

With three wins, a draw, and just one defeat in their last five games, Enyimba now sit just three points away from a CAF Confederation Cup spot. However, before this turnaround, the Aba-based club had only managed two wins in 10 matches, raising doubts over their consistency.

Their latest victory, a narrow 1-0 win over El-Kanemi Warriors courtesy of a Joseph Atule goal, has been hailed as a confidence booster by head coach Stanley Eguma. But even he admits the team is still far from its best.

“It brightens our hope and confidence… When we came in, it was very rough, the players’ psychology was low, morale was down. Now, I think the players are beginning to believe in themselves,” Eguma stated via *54FootballX*.

Yet, his admission that Enyimba still struggles with goal conversion and consistency raises concerns. Are the Aba giants truly on the path to reclaiming their dominance, or are they merely enjoying a temporary upswing before another slump?

With tougher fixtures ahead, Enyimba must prove that their revival is not just a fluke but a genuine return to the top. Otherwise, their recent run may be nothing more than a short-lived illusion.
