EX-ARSENAL, MAN CITY STRIKER ADEBAYOR ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT

Former Arsenal and Manchester City striker, Emmanuel Adebayor, today announced his retirement from football at the age of 39.

In a typically charismatic style, the former Togo international announced he was hanging up his boots with a video on his Instagram account in which he signed a piece of paper with the message ‘Thanks for the blessings!!!

The video continued with arguably the most contentious goal in Premier League history which saw the former Tottenham Hotspur star score for Manchester City against Arsenal before Adebayor ran the entire length of the field to celebrate in front of the Gunners’ fans who once loved him.

He expressed heartfelt thanks to fans for being there every step of the way in the caption that accompanied his farewell video.
