Family Tragedies in Adamawa: Teen Kills Stepmother, Another Man Stabs Father

Yola, Adamawa State – July 30, 2025

In a deeply troubling development, two separate violent family incidents have shaken communities in Adamawa State. Authorities confirmed that a 16-year-old boy allegedly killed his stepmother, while in another case, a man reportedly stabbed his own father during a dispute.

According to local police in Yola, the teenage boy is accused of using a sharp object to attack his stepmother at their home. The motive behind the attack is still under investigation, but officers say it may be linked to a family disagreement. The young suspect is now in custody and is being questioned by child protection and legal authorities.

In the second case, a middle-aged man allegedly stabbed his biological father following an argument. Witnesses say the altercation became physical, leading to the violent act. The father was rushed to the hospital and is currently receiving treatment. Police have arrested the suspect and opened a formal investigation.

These incidents highlight growing concerns about conflict and communication breakdowns within families. While both cases are still under investigation, experts are urging communities and government agencies to do more in promoting mental health support, anger management education, and peaceful conflict resolution at home.

“This isn’t just about crime — it’s a wake-up call about the kind of pressure people, especially young people, are facing,” said one local social worker. “Families need more support, and we must pay attention to signs of stress and emotional distress.”

Authorities are encouraging the public to report signs of domestic tension early and to seek help through community leaders or mental health services.

Violence in the home affects everyone. These tragic events from Adamawa serve as a painful reminder that families need support systems — not silence — when conflicts arise.
