The Director of the FCT Department of Security Services, DSS Adamu Gwary, has said the forthcoming G7 security meeting will tackle issues of kidnapping and other violent crimes in the FCT and its surrounding states.

Gwary made the disclosure in Abuja on Tuesday at the monthly FCT Security Meeting, where he also said the upcoming G7 meeting had been scheduled for July 5 in the FCT.

In a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary of the FCT, Anthony Ogunleye, the Director explained that the meeting will be attended by Police Commissioners of member states, heads of security agencies, Directors of security, and the Commandant of the NSCDC.

He further explained that security agencies in the FCT had been directed to take appropriate measures to curtail the issue of cattle herding in Abuja, as well as the activities of scavengers.

Meanwhile, FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Haruna Garba, disclosed that adequate security measures had been taken to ensure hitch-free Eid-El-Kabir celebrations in the capital.

He urged residents to go about their businesses without fear of a breakdown of law and order, adding that there is no cause for alarm the security agencies are on ground to support and secure them.

The meeting was chaired by the Permanent Secretary of the FCTA, Mr Olusade Adesola, and attended by heads of military and paramilitary formations in the FCT, religious and traditional leaders, as well as relevant officers of the FCTA.
