FCT Umunze Honours Student for Academic Excellence with Cash Reward/Vop

The management of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Umunze, Anambra State, has celebrated one of its students, Miss Blessing Nnabuife, for her exceptional academic performance. On Tuesday, January 21, the college presented her with a cash reward of ₦200,000 in recognition of her achievements.

Miss Nnabuife, a 300-level NCE student studying English and Social Studies, received the award after winning a Presidential Prize of Academic Excellence. This recognition was part of the 2024 International Students’ Day celebration organized by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Students’ Engagement. The award came with a certificate signed by Hon. Asefon Sunday, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Students’ Engagement.

Prof. Theresa Okoli, Provost of the college, expressed immense pride in Nnabuife’s accomplishments during a management meeting. She lauded her for bringing national recognition to the institution and announced the cash reward as a token of appreciation. Prof. Okoli also emphasized her administration’s commitment to promoting and rewarding academic excellence among students.

“This award places our college in the national spotlight as a center of excellence. We will continue to encourage and reward outstanding academic achievements,” the provost remarked. She also highlighted her administration’s ongoing infrastructural improvements, including new learning facilities, road networks, library resources, and modern hostels.

According to the college’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Sam Otti, Nnabuife’s academic brilliance was noticed through records submitted to the Federal Ministry of Education. He explained that her exceptional performance earned her an invitation to the Presidential Award Ceremony in Abuja.

Prof. Okoli urged other students to emulate Nnabuife by dedicating themselves to academic excellence, encouraging them to bring more laurels to the college.
