FEDERAL HIGH COURT DISMISES NEW JUDGE’S REPORTED STEPPING DOWN FROM KANU’S TRIAL

hi

The Federal High Court has dismissed reports that the newly assigned judge has stepped down from the protracted trial of the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

A publication circulating on the social media had claimed that the Chief Judge of the FHC, Justice John Tsoho, was the new judge in Kanu’s case and had withdrawn, citing the illegality of his arrest.

However, in a statement on Tuesday by the Chief Registrar, Sulaiman Hassan, the FHC described the report as “false and misleading.” Hassan said the claim was “entirely unfounded, fictitious, grossly mischievous, damaging in intent and should be disregarded in its entirety.”

According to the statement, the court refutes the false and misleading report alleging that Justice Tsoho has stepped down from Kanu’s case and made statements regarding the legality of his arrest.

Hassan added that the true position is that Justice Tsoho, in his capacity as chief judge, has reassigned Kanu’s case from Justice Binta Nyako to another judge.
