Federal High Court to Commence Annual Vacation on July 28

The Federal High Court has announced that its 2025 annual vacation will begin on July 28 and run through September 16, with court sittings scheduled to resume on September 17.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the court’s Director of Information, Mrs. Catherine Oby Christopher, and made available to the Voice Of the People (VOP) on Thursday.

According to the statement, during the vacation period, only the core divisions of the court—Abuja, Lagos, and Port Harcourt—will remain operational to handle cases deemed extremely urgent.

“The litigating public is advised to approach only the listed courts located nearest to them for urgent matters,” Christopher noted.

She also announced the judges assigned to preside over matters during the vacation period:

  • Abuja: Justice Emeka Nwite and Justice M. S. Liman

  • Lagos: Justice Deinde I. Dipeolu and Justice Musa Kakaki

  • Port Harcourt: Justice P. M. Ayua and Justice A. T. Mohammed

The vacation, she explained, is in accordance with Order 46, Rule 4(d) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2019.

The statement concluded with the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, extending his best wishes for a restful and pleasant vacation to all judges of the court.
