Federal Road Safety to prosecute popular TikToker Peller after car crash

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has ordered the immediate prosecution of popular Nigerian TikToker Habeeb Hamzat, widely

known as Peller, following his involvement in a recent car crash in Lagos.

According to reports, the incident occurred on Sunday afternoon and quickly gained widespread attention after a video of the crash circulated on social media. The development sparked public outrage, with many Nigerians condemning the content creator’s actions and calling on authorities to take disciplinary measures, including the withdrawal of his driver’s licence.

In response, the FRSC, in a statement released on its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday, confirmed that its Lagos State Command had been directed to commence legal action against the influencer.

Speaking on the matter, FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Muhammed, expressed concern over what he described as the increasing misuse of public roads by individuals within the entertainment and content creation space. He called on industry bodies, including the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), content creators, and entertainment associations, to caution their members against unsafe behaviour while driving.

The Corps Marshal specifically directed that Peller be prosecuted for reckless driving, use of a mobile phone while driving, and distracted driving, in line with existing traffic regulations.

The FRSC further issued a stern warning to members of the entertainment industry, stressing that celebrity status does not place anyone above the law and does not justify actions that endanger lives on public roads.

As of the time of reporting, Peller has not publicly reacted to the development. VOP News will continue to follow the case and provide updates as more information becomes available.
