Neymar Jr has expressed disappointment after being excluded from Brazil’s latest national team squad ahead of upcoming international fixtures.
The Brazil national football team forward reacted on Tuesday, saying he feels “upset” and “sad” over the decision.
In a post shared by Fabrizio Romano on X, Neymar admitted the omission affected him but insisted he remains focused.
“I’m upset, sad, about not being called up. But the focus remains day after day, training after training, game after game,” Neymar said.
“We’re going to achieve our goal. There’s still one final call-up left and the dream lives on. That’s it, we’re in this together,” he added.
Neymar’s omission comes amid concerns over his fitness and recent lack of consistent playing time.
The Santos FC forward has been recovering from injuries, which have affected his form and match sharpness in recent months.
Brazil’s coaching staff are reportedly prioritising players who are fully fit and actively competing at a high level.
The decision signals a possible shift within the Brazil squad as the team prepares for major competitions, including the FIFA World Cup.
Younger players are increasingly being integrated into the team as part of a broader rebuilding process.
For Neymar, the development raises questions about his role in the national team going forward, although he remains hopeful of making a return.
Background
Neymar, a former FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain star, is one of Brazil’s most decorated players.
However, recurring injuries in recent years have limited his appearances and impacted his influence at both club and international level.
Despite the setback, the forward maintains that his ambition to represent Brazil again remains alive.
