No fewer than 15 shops were allegedly burnt at Atiba-Iyalamu Oja-Tuntun Area, in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State.
VOp news gathered that the fire outbreak occurred in the early hours of the day and destroyed several goods.
The intervention of the state’s firemen on the scene prevented the fire from affecting surrounding buildings.
Speaking of the incident, the Head Of the Department of the fire service, Hassan Adekunle, said his men were able to curtail the inferno after several hours and rescued the remaining five shops in the building.
Also the Director, Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa urged the general public, particularly the market people, to always be vigilant.
