Tragedy was averted today when a major fire broke out at the Ibis Royale Hotel, a 3-Star facility located at 41, Murtala Mohammed International Airport Road, Ajao Estate.
The hotel is just a 7-minute drive from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
The fire which started at about 4:15pm destroyed infrastructure worth millions, but thankfully there were no casualties.
When our reporters arrived at the scene, men of the Lagos state fire service were already on hand working tirelessly to put out the raging inferno.
With smoke billowing high into the sky, some staff of the facility speaking on the condition of anonymity attributed the cause of the fire to a domestic fault as the fire reportedly started in the kitchen.
Some onlookers however disagreed, saying the fire started in the bar which had a grill housed in a cubicle with a raffia roof.
Many lodgers were seen standing outside the building with their belongings as the fire servicemen battled the blaze which affected only one side of the building.
