Former governor of Ogun state, Olusegun Osoba claimed that erstwhile head of state, Ibrahim Babangida (IBB), told him that he was hostage to those who helped him overthrow Muhammadu Buhari, his predecessor.

VOP News reports that Babangida overthrew Buhari as a military leader in 1985.

The likes of the late Sani Abacha, Aliyu Gusau, and Gado Nasko, among others, reportedly played key roles in the coup that ousted Buhari.

Speaking in an interview, Osoba revealed that he and some of his colleagues complained to IBB about some things that were wrong in his regime, but the military ruler told him that he had to obey his fellow coupists.

Osoba also said Babangida appreciated the feedback and promised to present their concerns to his “mentors and promoters.
