Tragedy struck on Sunday evening in the Abedi Sabon Gari area of Fagge Local Government, Kano State, as an uncompleted three storey building collapsed, claiming four lives and leaving seven others injured.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) confirmed the incident on Monday after hours of intensive search and rescue operations led by its Kano Territorial Office.
According to NEMA Coordinator, Dr. Nuraddeen Abdullahi, the collapse occurred at about 6:49 p.m. following a prolonged heavy downpour. Emergency responders were immediately deployed to the scene in collaboration with other relevant agencies.

“Several individuals were reportedly inside the building when it came down, with many trapped under the rubble,” Abdullahi said. Initial reports confirmed two fatalities and six injured victims, but later updates put the death toll at four and the injured at seven.
Rescue operations have now been concluded, and officials say a structural integrity assessment will be conducted to determine the cause of the collapse and assess the safety of nearby buildings.
The incident has sparked renewed concern over the stability of uncompleted structures, particularly in flood-prone areas during the rainy season.
