Four passengers were killed and 10 others injured after a bus on speed crashed into a ditch at Ore in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State on Saturday.
A witness said the accident happened around 6.30am when the driver of the bus, identified as a Chisco Company luxurious bus with Reg no KSF 93 YG, lost control and ran into the ditch.
The witness, who preferred to remain anonymous, told newsmen today that officials of the Nigeria Police Force were quick to visit the scene alongside men of the Federal Road Safety Corps to evacuate the victims to the hospital.
Confirming the crash in a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, blamed the driver of the passengers’ bus for the lone accident.
Odunlami-Omisanya explained that the driver, who was driving the passengers from Port Harcourt to Lagos State lost control of the vehicle before the crash occurred.
While sympathising with the families of the victims, Odunlami-Omisanya urged transport companies to always check the well-being of their drivers before transporting passengers with their vehicles.
