Fresh twist in Anambra PDP as disciplinary committee emerges

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State has inaugurated a seven-member disciplinary committee to promote internal discipline, foster reconciliation, and strengthen the party’s structures across the state.

The committee, inaugurated in Awka on Friday, is chaired by Chief Odili Ojukwu, with Mr. Obinna Ogugua serving as secretary. Other members include Mrs. Uju Edochie (Deputy Chairman), Mr. Chris Maduagwu, Mr. Nnamdi Nwangwu, Chief Casmir Ilechukwu, and Chief Okechukwu Ekemezie.

While inaugurating the committee, the Anambra PDP Chairman, Mr. Chidi Chidebe, emphasized the group’s mandate to uphold discipline and ensure strict adherence to the party’s constitution, rules, and regulations.

He noted that the committee is empowered to investigate cases of misconduct, anti-party activities, and other actions capable of undermining the image of the PDP. Based on its findings, the committee may recommend disciplinary measures—including reprimand, suspension, or expulsion—for consideration and approval by the State Working Committee (SWC).

Chidebe further charged members to carry out their responsibilities with integrity, impartiality, confidentiality, and commitment to the ideals of the party. He added that the tenure of the committee would be determined by the State Executive Committee (SEC).

“The SEC of the PDP in Anambra, in compliance with Chapter 10, Article 57 (1)(2) of our party’s constitution, has approved the establishment of this disciplinary committee. We congratulate the members and look forward to their contributions toward strengthening discipline, unity, and internal democracy within the party in Anambra,” Chidebe said.
