A 22-year-old mechanic, Mustapha Saad, was sentenced to 9 months in prison by the Jos Magistrates’ Court on Monday for diverting money entrusted to him for personal use.
Magistrate Shawomi Bokkos swiftly tried and sentenced Saad, who pleaded guilty to the charge.
The prosecution, led by Insp. Ijuptil Thiawar, revealed that the case was reported at the “C” Division Police Station on March 20. Thiawar explained that Saad was entrusted with N80,000, but instead of keeping it safe, he used the money for his personal needs. The offence was found to violate the Plateau Penal Code Law.
