The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has restated its dedication to protecting lives and property along major highways in Kogi State.

The State Sector Commander, Mr. Kumar Tsukwam, made this known on Wednesday in Lokoja while receiving the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Road Safety Matters, Mr. Suberu John.

Tsukwam emphasized that the corps’ core mandate is to save lives along the nation’s road corridors, stressing that the safety and well-being of all road users remain a top priority.

“We deeply appreciate this visit. It’s timely and encouraging, especially as we strengthen collaboration for safer roads,” Tsukwam said.

“Since assuming office as Kogi Sector Commander, my priority has been to promote a safe motoring environment through active partnership with the state government. We are already seeing positive results, with a significant reduction in road crashes across Kogi.”

He also lauded the state government’s support and described the partnership as essential in maintaining momentum on road safety efforts.

In his remarks, Mr. Suberu John commended the FRSC for its humanitarian service, particularly its prompt emergency response and dedication to saving lives on the highways.

He pledged to work closely with the corps in sensitising the public on safe driving practices, aligning with the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety (2021–2030), which targets a 50% reduction in road traffic crashes and injuries.

John further promised to support the command’s activities, especially in staff training and public enlightenment initiatives.
