As political maneuvering intensifies ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election, the Presidency has sent a notable birthday message to former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi, despite mounting speculation about his alignment with opposition forces working to unseat President Bola Tinubu.

Many analysts see the warm public message from Tinubu to Amaechi on his 60th birthday as a strategic move, aimed at maintaining ties with Amaechi or discouraging him from joining the emerging opposition coalition.

With internal disagreements plaguing the main opposition figures—Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi—over who should lead a unified front in 2027, Amaechi is being quietly positioned as a consensus alternative.
