Governor of Enugu State has signed the N971 billion 2025 Appropriation Bill into law, dubbing it the “Budget of Exponential Growth and Inclusive Prosperity.” The budget, which emphasizes transformative development, is aimed at turning Enugu into a hub of opportunities where no one is left behind.
With a significant focus on capital projects, N837.9 billion (86%) has been allocated to capital expenditure, while N133.1 billion (14%) is earmarked for recurrent expenses. Governor highlighted that this financial plan sets the groundwork for sustainable development across key sectors.
Education remains the top priority for the second consecutive year, receiving the largest allocation of N320.6 billion, representing over 33% of the total budget. This, the Governor emphasized, reflects the administration’s commitment to eradicating poverty by empowering minds through quality education.
The Governor extended gratitude to the Enugu State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Hon. Uchenna Ugwu and Deputy Speaker Hon. Ezenta Ezeani, for the swift passage of the budget. He described their collaboration as a “true Christmas gift” to the people of Enugu, ensuring seamless implementation from January 1, 2025.
In his address, the Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to exponential growth through intentional and strategic actions. “Incremental growth is not enough for us,” he stated, vowing to tackle issues such as hunger, poverty, and infrastructure gaps.
As development continues across sectors including health, education, tourism, and infrastructure, the Governor pledged to sustain the momentum, working towards a future where no child in Enugu goes to bed hungry and poverty is eradicated.
The 2025 budget aims to position Enugu State as a beacon of hope, excellence, and inclusive prosperity for all its residents.
