Governor Siminalayi Fubara has warned the police against restoring the disbanded Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS) in Rivers State.

Some media users have been alleging profiling and indiscriminate arrests after sightings of police officers operating like SARS in Port Harcourt and other areas.

Governor Fubara raised the issue on Friday at the Government House during a meeting with the new Commissioner of Police, Nwoyi Polycarp Emeka.

The governor urged the commissioner to investigate the complaints and halt any form of harassment of law-abiding individuals.

He assured of his administration’s commitment to sustaining support for security agencies to safeguard lives and property.

The governor further charged the CP to be firm, forthright and tackle crimes and criminality with his wealth of experience.

The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof, Zacchaeus Adango and relevant government agencies have been directed to collaborate with the police and other security agencies.
