Gov. Babagana Zulum of Borno state on Sunday released N100 million and empowerment tools to 5,340 tailors to improve their businesses.
Governor Zulum made the announcement on Sunday at the multi-purpose hall of the Government House, Maiduguri.
He noted that the state government distributed the funds through the Borno Renaissance Microfinance Bank to 2,000 tailors with another 3,340 receiving different types of working tools that include industrial machines, sewing machines, designing machines and electrical generator sets.
He instructed the tailoring associations to compile a list of members from all the 27 local government areas that have not benefited from the distribution in order to support them in the 2nd and 3rd distribution exercises.
Speaking, the Managing Director of Borno Renaissance Microfinance Bank, Dr Bello Ibrahim urged the beneficiaries to put the empowerment into positive use.
Malam Ibrahim Kachalla, one of the beneficiaries under the Amalgamated Tailoring Association, commended the governor for the support, noting that it will go a long way in boosting their businesses.
