Deborah Mbara, a breast cancer survivor and Creative Director of Zazi Beauty Place in Asaba, has accused controversial social media personality Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, of altering her medical report to solicit donations from Nigerians.

Mbara revealed in a video post on Instagram on Tuesday how she shared her medical report with Blessing CEO in good faith, only to discover it had been doctored and circulated online.

The controversy arose after Blessing CEO posted a tearful video on March 25 claiming a stage four breast cancer diagnosis, shaving her head, and soliciting donations. She reportedly raised at least N13 million before scepticism emerged.

The original report, issued on May 9, 2025, by Xinus Medical Diagnostics in Asaba to Mbara, confirmed her breast cancer diagnosis following a referral from a private hospital. The Delta State Branch of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) disowned the altered document circulating online.

“Only for me to see on social media on Friday, that it was the result I gave to her that she doctored and flying it all over… the nonsense and the defrauding and the money people are raising for her,” Mbara said.

Background Interaction with Blessing CEO

Mbara, who had met Blessing CEO while working as her makeup artist last year, explained that she initially reached out to offer emotional and spiritual support.

“I started talking to her, encouraging her, telling her that she should gather herself… You have to go for your medicals. It is something you take one step at a time,” she said.

During their conversations, Mbara provided Blessing CEO access to her personal diagnosis reports, believing it was for legitimate comparison purposes.

“She said, ‘Okay, Zazi, please, can you just please help me send your own reports when you were diagnosed so I could compare them with what her doctor gave her.’ I said, ” Okay, no problem. That was how I gave her my results,” Mbara recounted.

Impact on Survivor

Mbara, who completed chemotherapy on January 30, described the experience as emotionally traumatic.

“It’s days of sleepless nights for you… life pauses for some days for the person,” she said.

She expressed disappointment that her goodwill was exploited for personal gain.

“I thought I was helping someone in need, not knowing that she had another agenda… This is evil. This is wickedness. This is demonic. I’m a proud survivor. Jesus saved me,” she concluded.

Many Nigerians have called for her arrest and the immediate refund of all donations, especially after she deactivated her Instagram account.
