The Kano State Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA) says it has recovered Information and Communication Technology (ICT) equipment worth N80 million allegedly stolen from a secondary school in Kano metropolis.
Managing Director of the agency, Mr. Faisal Mahmud, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday by KAROTA’s spokesman, Abubakar Ibrahim.
According to him, a patrol team intercepted the stolen items, which were carted away from the ICT room of Aisha Shehu Government Junior Secondary School, Kuka, in Fagge Local Government Area.
Mahmud explained that about 10 suspected thieves broke into the school through the roof, tied up security guards, and stole solar panels, computers, and other accessories around 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
“The agency received a distress call shortly after the attack and immediately mobilised to the scene. On sighting our patrol vehicles, the suspects abandoned the stolen equipment and fled,” he said.
He commended KAROTA personnel for their swift response and urged residents to cooperate with the agency in safeguarding lives and property.
Rufa’atu Mahmud, Principal of the school, also praised the agency’s vigilance, noting that the equipment were provided under the World Bank–funded AGILE project, designed to enhance ICT knowledge among girls in Kano State.
