“I No Gree”: ADC’s John Nwosu Rejects Anambra Election Results

Mr. John Nwosu, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate in the Anambra State governorship election, has rejected the outcome of the poll, describing it as a subversion of the people’s will.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Governor Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) the winner with 422,664 votes, while Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) came second with 99,445 votes. Nwosu finished fifth with 8,208 votes.

In a statement released following the announcement, Nwosu alleged widespread vote buying across several polling units, claiming voters were induced with amounts ranging from ₦3,000 to ₦20,000, turning the election into a commercial transaction rather than a democratic process.

“An election can only be considered credible when it is free from manipulation and corruption. Any outcome achieved through inducement cannot reflect the true voice of the electorate,” he said.

He described the conduct of the election as a national embarrassment that undermines the integrity of Nigeria’s electoral system and called for a collective effort to end electoral corruption, warning that such practices compromise the nation’s democratic future.

Nwosu also thanked members of the ADC and his campaign supporters for resisting pressures and remaining committed despite alleged intimidation and inducement during the election.
