Mr. Nicholas Ukachukwu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Saturday’s governorship election in Anambra State, has said he will consult his party and supporters before issuing a formal reaction to the poll results.
Ukachukwu spoke on Sunday in Awka while responding to the announcement that incumbent Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) had been re-elected, scoring 422,664 votes against Ukachukwu’s 99,445 votes, according to the official results.
“We are still collecting information regarding Saturday’s governorship election from our supporters and party members across the state. We will also consult with the APC at every level. When we are done, we will make our next move known to the public,” he stated.
The APC candidate denied allegations of vote-buying by his party during the election, as claimed by APGA, and insisted that the results showed the APC maintained a strong presence in the state, contrary to rumors suggesting otherwise.
Ukachukwu also commended journalists for their role in ensuring the election was conducted peacefully, noting their balanced reporting before, during, and after the poll.
