No fewer than 14 communities in Ogun State are currently experiencing power outages, which Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, IBEDC, has attributed to technical faults in power installations.
The spokesperson of IBDC, Busolami Tunwase, confirmed this to newsmen on Wednesday.
According to the DisCo, a faulty breaker on the Ijoko 33kV feeder had on Tuesday plunged customers in some parts of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government of Ogun in darkness.
While apolgising to customers, the DisCo explained, “Our technical team is working with Transmission Company of Nigeria to ensure power supply is restored.”
Earlier, the distribution company disclosed that a technical fault on the Sobi 33kV feeder, Gambari, Sobi Barracks and Sobi Specialist 11kV feeders affected about 15 areas in Kwara State.
The lingering low power supply occasioned by gas shortages nationwide has yet to be rectified.
On Tuesday, the Eko Electricity Distribution Company informed its customers again that the current limited supply being experienced “is due to low allocation from the grid resulting from gas shortages to the generating companies”.
In the same vein, the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company apologised to its customers.
It explained that this is a result of the low allocation stemming from gas shortages to the generating companies.
You will recall that Nigerians have since January complained of blackouts, which stakeholders in the electricity value chain blamed on gas constraints.
The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, had repeatedly promised to address the issue.
