If Kanu Is Harmed, Blame Sowore — Barr. Darlington Makes Bold Allegation

Abuja, Nigeria — Legal practitioner and political analyst Barrister Darlington has warned that activist Omoyele Sowore should be held responsible if anything happens to Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Speaking during a live political programme, Darlington claimed that Sowore had earlier disclosed that the Federal Government had already decided to convict Kanu before considering any form of political resolution to his case.

“If anything happens to Nnamdi Kanu, we should blame Sowore because he told us the government has taken a position to convict Nnamdi Kanu before talking of political solution,” Darlington said.

He described the situation as deeply troubling, warning that such a stance would undermine the rule of law and fuel further tension in the South-East region.[irp]

“Justice must never be predetermined. Once you decide the outcome before trial, you’ve already destroyed fairness,” he added.

Darlington urged the Federal Government to pursue dialogue and reconciliation, insisting that continued detention or harsh judgment would only worsen public mistrust and provoke unrest.

“The peaceful path is always better. The government should allow the law to take its full course — not a political script,” he advised.[irp]

Observers note that his remarks come amid renewed calls from various groups for a political solution to Kanu’s detention, arguing that reconciliation would help restore peace and stability in the South-East.
