Ifeanyi Emenari Assumes Duty as New Commissioner of Police in Benue

Mr. Ifeanyi Emenari has officially taken over as the new Commissioner of Police for the Benue State Command.

This was announced in a statement issued by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Sewuese Anene, and made available to journalists on Monday in Makurdi.

According to Anene, CP Emenari, a seasoned officer from Ekwulobia in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, joined the Nigeria Police Academy in 1992. He has served in various operational, investigative, and administrative roles across different parts of the country.

His experience includes assignments in Zamfara, Imo, Katsina, Anambra, Cross River, Osun, Ogun, Abia States, and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The statement highlighted that Emenari served as Unit Commander of the 27 Police Mobile Force (PMF) in Katsina State from 1996 to 1999, Unit Commander of the 29 PMF in Awka, Anambra State from 1999 to 2002, and Unit Commander of the 11 PMF in Calabar, Cross River State from 2002 to 2003.

Anene also noted that CP Emenari represented Nigeria in various international missions, serving as a Commanding Officer. His foreign service included roles as Contingent Commander of the Nigeria Police Contingent to the United Nations Mission in Sudan, Operations Officer at the Joint Operation Center (JOC) in Khartoum, Sudan, and Deputy Security Advisor in Eastern Equatoria State, South Sudan in 2012.

Before his deployment to Benue, Emenari served as the Commissioner of Police, Force Provost Marshal.

“As Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command, CP Emenari is committed to strengthening community policing, building strategic partnerships, enhancing security measures, and utilizing available resources to combat insecurity in the state,” Anene stated.
