IGP Disburses N2.99Bn to Families of Fallen Police Officers/Vop

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has disbursed a total of N2.99 billion to the families of police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

Speaking at the cheque presentation ceremony held at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, the IGP acknowledged the financial difficulties many of these families have endured due to prolonged delays in compensation payments.

The latest disbursement covers policy years 2020–2024, bringing the total payout under the insurance scheme to N20.84 billion, benefiting 7,171 families of deceased officers.

The initiative is part of the police welfare scheme aimed at providing financial relief to the dependents of fallen officers, recognizing their sacrifices and service to the nation.
