Senior military commanders from Pakistan and India are set to hold a telephone discussion on Monday to extend a U.S.-brokered ceasefire along the contested Kashmir region. The Directors-General of Military Operations (DGMOs) will focus on measures to ensure the ceasefire, which has been in effect since Saturday, remains intact beyond Monday.
This development comes after several days of heightened tensions, which included drone, missile, and airstrikes aimed at military facilities and airbases. The discussions may also open the door for future talks between national security advisers to address ongoing disputes, particularly regarding Kashmir.
