The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, today said it is closely monitoring the situation in Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, where its officials are allegedly held hostage.
The Commission’s statement was contained in a post on its social media platform X on Sunday.
The development followed the conduct of the gubernatorial election in the state.
INEC warned that the development is detrimental to credible elections, and called on the security agencies to immediately facilitate their release.
