A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Ibrahim Amos, has been abducted by suspected bandits in the early hours of Thursday in Kurmin Risga, located in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to a press statement issued by the Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan, Rev. Fr. Jacob Shanet, the priest was taken from his residence at St. Gerald Quasi Parish around 12:15 a.m.
Describing the incident as distressing, Fr. Shanet called on the public to offer prayers for the safe and swift return of the abducted cleric. “We solicit your prayers for his quick and safe release,” he said.
The abduction adds to a growing list of targeted attacks on religious figures in the region, sparking renewed concerns over security in parts of southern Kaduna.
As of the time of reporting, security agencies had yet to issue an update on efforts to secure the priest’s release.
