Insecurity: Idris Commends Tinubu for Deploying Six Armoured Personnel Carriers to Kebbi

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State on Sunday expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for the deployment of six Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) to strengthen security efforts across the state.

The governor gave the commendation while inspecting the newly deployed APCs at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi. The military hardware was provided by the Federal Government as part of measures to tackle growing insecurity in the region.

Voice Of the People (VOP) reports that Kebbi South has recently witnessed repeated attacks by armed bandits, who often cross over from neighbouring Zamfara and Niger States to carry out assaults before retreating.

“I sincerely thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, and other security chiefs for their commitment to addressing insecurity nationwide,” Governor Idris said.

He lauded the deployment of military assets to vulnerable areas in the state, emphasizing that such efforts were crucial in repelling further attacks and restoring peace.

“Our administration will continue to provide maximum support to security agencies in their operations. We are encouraged by the bravery and performance of our troops in combating banditry,” he added.

The governor noted that residents have been calling in and visiting to express gratitude for the improved security presence in their communities.

He called on citizens to support ongoing security operations by providing credible and timely intelligence that can help in dismantling criminal networks.

“We remain grateful to our gallant officers, and while we mourn those who have fallen in the line of duty, we pray for the peaceful repose of their souls. Kebbi State will continue to support the families of our fallen heroes,” Idris assured.

The Commanding Officer of the 223 Light Tank Battalion in Zuru, Lt.-Col. M. S. Saleh, who presented the equipment to the governor, thanked the state government for its consistent support.

He also appreciated the military high command for empowering troops with the necessary tools and encouragement to carry out their mission effectively.

“We are working tirelessly around the clock to confront and overcome the security threats. We also appeal to citizens to assist by reporting suspicious movements and activities,” Lt.-Col. Saleh stated.
