Nigerian midfielder, Alex Iwobi, has agreed on the terms of a new contract with EPL side, Everton which will see him extend his stay at Goodison Park.
The 26-year-old is set to put pen to paper on an extended deal after transforming his career at the Merseyside this season in a new central midfield role.
Everton have been in talks with Iwobi for months and have now secured a breakthrough in negotiations ahead of the January transfer window.
The former Arsenal has accepted Everton’s contract offer and landed a huge increase to his pay on his current deal, which is worth around £90,000-a-week and runs until the summer of 2024.
He has started all 15 of Everton’s Premier League matches this season, completing 14 of them, and become instrumental to the team’s set-up under Frank Lampard and when he plays well, the team plays well, and on his off days, the team switches off as well.
Iwobi has already provided six assists for his teammates this term, with five of them coming in the league, and scored a scorcher in the 2-1 defeat to Man United.
