Lagos’ 2023 governorship candidate under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has ignited political intrigue following his recent resignation from the PDP. In a shocking turn of events, Jandor has been spotted in high-profile meetings with President Bola Tinubu, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and other political heavyweights, raising eyebrows over his next move.
His spokesperson, Gbenga Ogunleye, confirmed that Jandor met with President Tinubu on Monday, further fueling speculation about a potential defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). This comes after earlier meetings with Atiku, former President Ibrahim Babangida, former Head of State Gen. Abdusalami Abubakar, and SDP’s 2023 presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo.
While PDP leaders, including the party’s National Secretary, have scrambled to persuade him to reconsider his resignation, Jandor appears unfazed. He has accused the party’s national leadership of betrayal, blaming them for his loss in the Lagos governorship election due to what he described as a deceptive last-minute alliance.
With Jandor set to meet his political associates and address the media on Monday, March 17, 2025, all eyes are on whether he will officially align with a new party or chart an independent political course. Will he join forces with Tinubu’s APC, return to Atiku’s PDP faction, or emerge as a third-force contender? The political landscape in Lagos is about to get even more unpredictable.
