Eldama Ravine, Baringo County—A horrifying case of domestic violence has rocked Eldama Ravine after a 32-year-old woman was brutally m****red, allegedly by her ex-husband, in what authorities suspect was a crime fueled by jealousy.
According to a statement from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, the suspect, Alex Kimeli Ng’elel, could not accept that his former wife had moved on with another man.
The chilling crime was reported by Saos area Chief Judith Chebon, who discovered the woman’s lifeless body outside her new boyfriend’s rented house. Witnesses say she was last seen heading to her partner’s home around 8 PM, only for her blood-soaked body, bearing deep head wounds, to be found an hour later.
The suspect has since fled, with DCI Koibatek detectives launching a manhunt. The gruesome killing has ignited outrage, with many questioning the country’s efforts to combat gender-based violence and protect women from vengeful ex-partners.
As authorities intensify their search for Ng’elel, the case has sparked heated debate over whether the justice system does enough to address the rising cases of femicide in Kenya.
