Members of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Plateau State Chapter, in collaboration with Operation Safe Haven, a security taskforce maintaining peace in the state, on Sunday, organised a walk to promote peace and unity and create awareness against drug abuse in the state.
The state had in the last 20 years witnessed a series of ethno-religious crises with many reportedly killed and millions of naira properties destroyed.
According to the organisers of the event, the peace walk aimed to sensitise residents, especially, youths, on the effect of drug abuse and the need to live peacefully with one another irrespective of their differences, adding that drug abuse had become a push factor for violence in the state.
